Have you ever felt like you were just going through the motions? Ever wondering why you're even doing this anymore? Question wether you are good enough or skilled enough? There's so many ways to refresh that passion for your craft. Personally my favorite way is to find inspiration through a creative session. Typically I create this sessions for my kids or friends/family, occasionally a client will come to me with a crazy amazing session idea that I just have to do! But this time it was different... I got this idea in my head and I just knew I had to see it through. I HAD to make this image in my head a reality. The only problem was I had wait until the timing was perfect!
There is so much that makes this image special! When I got married we had only a couple months to plan our wedding and move across the world so we didn't get to have the huge elaborate wedding that most little girls dream of. Our wedding was special and amazing but I didn't get the chance to do a bridal session. So for our 5 year anniversary I decided I wanted to do a bridal session. I wanted to get dressed up and get all fancy and take pictures in the place I love.
I knew I wanted the session on the island but I hadn't thought to much else about it. The first time we visited the island this summer I immediately knew how I wanted this taken. I had this vision of what I wanted this image to be. I just knew I had to make this happen. So I waited and waited for a couple of my best friends to come up with me and we had so much fun getting ready and heading to the island. For reference it was me, my mom, my cousin, my daughter, and 2 of my amazing best friends. Getting to the island was an adventure as we had a boat doing donuts with kids on an inter tube in front of us so we hit their wake at least 15 times before they realized we were headed to the island and moved. Then of course getting into a dress I haven't worn in 5 years was a bit rough. It took 5 adults to get me into the dress that was too small 5 years ago but we did it! I couldn't breath but we did it! Once we started pictures we had so much fun! I set up the camera and told my friend how to focus and take the images, I told her where to stand, and how I wanted the images to look. There was a lot of running back and forth but the best part was getting this image in particular. I had my mom take my friend out on the boat and told them exactly where to go and what to do and it resulted in an image that I will forever have on my walls.
This image isn't just a picture of me in my wedding dress. It's a memory that I will treasure forever. It refreshed my LOVE and PASSION for photography. It reminded me of how much I love capturing memories and giving clients the ability to hold them in their hands for a lifetime.
